Preachers for Whitsunday

Big day at the Big House, Whitsunday and all that, always important. Can we hope to get back to a full Creed at Holy Communion, since Eastertide acclamation makes no mention of either God or the Holy Spirit, which tends to be a major feature of Whitsuntide? Just un petit pense. Anyway if Whitsunday wasn’t a big enough event in the Church’s year as it is, this year we have a very special guest preacher… on.

Holy Communion        Preacher;    Rev Canon Richard White, Canon for Mission

and Evangelism Liverpool Cathedral

Music:     Setting Little Organ Mass Joseph Hayden

Loquebantur Variis Linguis Giovanni di Palestrina

Two Cathedrals Service        Starts at Liverpool Cathedral and concludes at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, featuring the choirs of both.

I’m afraid I don’t have a full list of music

Preacher: Cardinal Walter Kasper,

President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity,

Cardinal-Deacon of Ognissanti in Via Appia Nuova

Now I’m open to correction here (there’s a first!), but I think I’m right in saying this is the most senior member of the Roman Catholic Curia to visit Liverpool Cathedral (Anglican) since the visit of His Holiness Pope John Paul II, which would make his eminence the most senior RC preacher we’ve ever had. Come early to avoid disappointment, not forgetting comfy shoes for walk down Hope Street. Cardinal Kasper will be preaching in English by the way.
