Didn’t the Cathedral do Well?
Liverpool Cathedral has won the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year Award 2008. Up against formidable entries (Tate Liverpool, National Museums and Galleries Liverpool, The Bluecoat and the Beatles Story), Liverpool Cathedral triumphed.
In presenting the award, the judges commented: “"This was an impressive entry with strong and well-organised supporting material. Liverpool Cathedral is a place that exceeds expectations."
This is a huge honour for the Cathedral and reflects all the hard work put in by all members of staff who make the Cathedral a wonderful place to visit.
And as if that weren’t enough, the Cathedral has also won a major award from The North West Multi-Faith Tourism Association (NWMFTA) who have awarded the Catherdal their ‘Marque of Excellence Award’ – see for further details.
The award will be presented by the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside to the Cathedral on July 19th as part of the Cathedral’s annual celebration of its Consecration during the Eucharist. After the service there will be a buffet lunch to celebrate, to which all members of the congregation are invited. The service will be sung by the Cathedral Choir and the Cathedral Occasional Singers.
