University of Liverpool Lecture Series

UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL

WEEKLY CATHEDRAL LUNCHTIME LECTURES

(NO.1 OF 6) – WITH DR ALAN CROSBY

  • 22 April 2009
  • Venue: Lady Chapel
  • Time: 1.00pm
"Prescot: A market town in Liverpool’s shadow"

Following the success of the lectures in 2007 and 2008, the Anglican Cathedral and the School of History at the University of Liverpool plan to hold another series of six lectures; they will be held on consecutive Wednesdays starting on 22 April 2009.  Each lecture will begin at 1.00pm and end by about 1.50pm.  They will all be free.

Our theme this year is ‘Spotlight on our region’ , a topic suggested by a regular member of the audience for the last two series. Each lecture will be given by an expert in the region that she or he has chosen.

Dr Alan Crosby, a well-known local historian who has published a number of books and articles on the North West will talk about the research he has done on Prescot.  The lecture will be chaired by Dr Monica Nurnberg, a retired lecturer from the University and one of Alan’s enthusiastic Continuing Education students.
